Steep Creek Outfitters originally started out as a kayak guiding business about ten years ago. From that time, our business has grown in size and in organization. Though that process, an outfitting shop was born in 2008 and started supplying people from the U.P. with things from backpacks to kayaks to winter gear. 2009 rolled around and we thought we should start serving delicious healthy food. Our fresh wraps and sandwiches have become a craving for some and the café a second home to many. An espresso machine made a grand entrance into our lives and has kept us awake during the long grueling hours of work. (Just kidding!) We started serving espresso and coffee, making many mornings more joyous for those of us who need caffeine to survive. 

We think so.  One of our desires as a shop is to expose people to the greatness of nature and of God.  People weren't meant to be trapped in a cubicle 5 days a week.  We were created for an adventure.  And we were created to enjoy each other's company.  Hence, we like to get to know each customer that walks through our door. And we make it our goal to serve others.  That means you can trust us to help you find the right gear for your excursion, or at least point you in the right direction if we don't have what you're looking for.  We also love introducing people to new outdoor sports and activities. Often, we find that many have never been kayaking on Lake Superior and it’s an exciting experience for us to be able to guide them on this majestic water.  {Click here to be redirected to our Kayaking Trips.} There are so many ways to take pleasure in the outdoors, and that's why we're excited to offer the equipment to enjoy it-- including gear for kayaking, camping, x-c skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing…you know, all those “–ing” words.
